Apillon’s Polkadot Bounty Proposal — Key takeaways (TL;DR)
The revamped Apillon Proposal is another step in bringing Web3 to every user and increasing the relevance of Polkadot…

Here is where and how to cast your vote:

Step 1: Log in to Polkassembly

1.1 Get your Polkadot wallet ready

To vote on Polkassembly proposals, you need an account on the official Polkadot’s OpenGov platform.

You can create one by using your unique credentials or a Polkadot-supporting wallet, either Polkadot.js, Talisman, or Subwallet.

If you don’t have any of these just yet, download and install them as browser extensions or mobile apps first.

1.2 Get some DOT

You will also need some DOT balance in your wallet. Follow the guides of each wallet to acquire or transfer DOT from external sources.

1.3 Log in to Polkassembly

Go to https://polkadot.polkassembly.io/opengov and make sure you’re using the OpenGov version. If you’re still on Governance V1, click the “Switch to OpenGov” button at the top of the page.

Log into the platform using your credentials or Polkadot wallet. Click “Login” and, in case of wallet login, approve it in your wallet extension pop-up.

In the top right corner, make sure you’re connected to the Polkadot Network.

Now, let’s vote on Apillon’s Bounty Proposal.

Step 2: Vote on Apillon Proposal

3.1 Find Proposal

In the menu on the left, navigate to TRACKS > Treasury > Big Spender.

On the list of all Big Spender proposals, find Apillon’s at #81. Click on it to open more details and the vote function.

3.2 Vote on Proposal

Now, it’s time to exercise your voting right.

☝️ Note: The screenshots were made during the Proposals’ Prepare Period, but the same principles apply in the Voting Period, too.

Under the proposal title, you can dive into the details by switching between the Description, Timeline, Audit, and On-Chain Info tabs.

On the right, you can see the voting timeline for both the Decision and Confirmation Period, and the ratio of Aye and Nay votes, along with Support and Issuance in DOT. For more details, click Voting History and Threshold Data.

Finally, click the “Cast Vote Now” button and have your say.

Now, a pop-up window appears where you need to check and set a few things:

  • Vote with Account: If you have more than one account linked with your chosen wallet, select the one you prefer for voting.
  • Choose your vote: Cast your vote on the Proposal — either Aye, Nay, Split, or Abstain. We prefer Aye, of course.
  • Lock balance: Add DOT balance to add weight to your vote. The greater the locked balance, the stronger your vote.
  • Vote lock: In the drop-down, multiply your vote lock and extend the locked period of your DOTs.

Finally, click “Confirm” and authorize the vote in your wallet extension pop-up by clicking the “Approve” button.

That’s it. Once your wallet notifies you of successfully submitting your vote, it is signed on-chain and could tip the scale for the Proposal.

Now, if you want to do it all over, click “Cast Vote Again” and repeat the process.

As simple as that. Thank you for your vote!
